NUOVA GUINEA
I B17 hanno colpito l'aeroporto di GiliGili mentre i B24 e gli aerei imbarcati si sono concentrati ancora su Port Moresby. Elevati i danni per entrambi gli aeroporti che credo avranno ora una bassissima efficienza, mentre altri 20 aerei nemici a fine giornata risultano distrutti al suolo. In due giorni i Jap hanno perso 30 Sonia, l'unico potenziale offensivo presente in zona ad oggi.
Per domani prevedo i primi sbarchi ed anche una reazione aerea rabbiosa visto che le mie CV, ad oggi non avvistate, hanno rivelato la loro presenza.
Ho notato molte navi ormeggiate nel porto di PM: per sicurezza domani alcune squadriglie imbarcate andranno in port attack.
Ho previsto anche un bombardamento navale condotto da ben quattro corazzate per ammorbidire le difese in previsione dello sbarco, non so quante truppe saranno presenti la recon mi dice solo 23.000

Lo sbarco è cominciato e come temevo Lele non è rimasto con le mani in mano, ma andiamo con ordine.

Nella notte la TF da bombardamento ha eseguito la sua missione, molte le navi jap sorprese nel porto:

Nel cielo i miei bombardieri hanno colpito gli aeroporti sia a PM che a GiliGili, ma questa volta ho incluso anche a Lae che però risulta stranamente deserto! Altri 5 aerei jap distrutti al suolo.

Ma questa volta l'aviazione jap si è presentata pronta a combattere. Da Rabaul sono partiti decine di Betty che hanno silurato un mercantile e purtroppo colpito per ben 6 volte la New Mexico. La CAP delle mie CV ha totalmente fallito e oramai la nave è persa anche se non ancora affondata...avevo messo in conto delle perdite ma vedere tutti gli aerei wildcat imbarcati rimanere passivi in questo caso è demoralizzante!

La vera sorpresa arriva nel pomeriggio, quando aerei imbarcati jap si fanno già vedere. Le CV nemiche credo siano due, al largo di Lae, visto il numero di aerei lanciati.
E' andata bene: questa volta la mia CAP ha abbattuto la quasi totalità della forza d'attacco nemica. Solo un Val ha centrato la Wasp con una bomba che ha sfondato il ponte: temevo peggio ma non ci sono fuochi ne allagamenti. La CV adesso opera al 65% della sua efficienza massima ma ho deciso di tenerla in prima linea visto che mi serve tutta la copertura aerea possibile nei prossimi turni.

Complessivamente oggi ho perso 30 wildcat contro oltre 120 aerei nemici su Port Moresby. Le due CV nemiche ora saranno a corto di aerei e di buoni piloti quindi credo che torneranno a Truk o Rabaul per rifornire. Adesso il vero problema sono i Betty ancora numerosi e micidiali, staremo a vedere domani. Io oramai non posso più ritirarmi!!!

E' continuato per tutto il giorno lo sbarco delle mie divisioni. Molte le navi colpite dai cannoni costieri e qualche nave ha urtato delle mine: si sta sminando il campo ma evidentemente le mine sono molte di più del previsto.

A fine giornata i soldati americani già sbarcati sono quasi 31.000, il rapporto di forze è già 3:1 in mio favore ma aspetterò qualche turno prima di dare il primo assalto.

Per domani ho impostato un airport attack su GiliGili per tutti i bombardieri a lungo raggio disponibili in Australia visto che ho notato la presenza di diversi zero.
Riguardo i miei caccia per domani ho impostato la CAP a 90% per compensare le perdite: fin due giorni di scontri ho perso 56 caccia imbarcati, 1/4 del totale. Ho ancora margine ma non posso continuare a perdere aerei senza rischiare le mie CV: appena le truppe saranno sbarcate con sufficienti rifornimenti le lascerò momentaneamente senza copertura, non posso fare altrimenti.
Lato positivo: le perdite jap sono sempre più numerose, oggi sono andati persi 37 zero, 31 Betty ed anche 11 Rufe distrutti al suolo.

 

7 Dicembre '42

COMANDO USA

La data del 7 dicembre non porta decisamente bene alla flotta USA.

La flotta JAP è riuscita a reagire in pochissimo tempo ed in tre turni Lele ha fatto intervenire centinaia di aerei e molte sue CV, decisamente un ottimo stratega. Sinceramente speravo di avere più tempo e oggi ho pagato la mia supposizione.

CRONACA:
Durante la notte e in mattinata continuano gli sbarchi ma subito arriva una cattiva notizia: l'incrociatore CLAA San Juan di scorta alle CV è silurato ed è costretto a rompere la formazione. Non è in pericolo di affondamento ma i danni sono comunque seri.

In mattinata appaiono molti bombardieri pesantemente scortati da Rabaul: la mia caccia fa buona guardia e molti aerei jap sono abbattuti.

Tutto sembra proseguire per il meglio quando nel pomeriggio appaiono 190 aerei lanciati dalla KB: ho di fronte i migliori piloti a disposizione del Giappone ed i risultati si vedono. Molti i miei caccia abbattuti: il rapporto delle perdite è 1:1 e molti Kate e Val passano.

La Wasp è oramai persa, la Lex è gravemente danneggiata ma se non riceve altri colpi dovrebbe farcela.

Ho preso la grave decisione di interrompere lo sbarco e di ritirarmi verso le coste australiane con quello che mi rimane: lascerò davanti a PM solo le navi che non riuscirebbero comunque ad arrivare in Australia (AK e DD danneggiati gravemente da mine e cannoni costieri durante lo sbarco) sia per distrarre i prossimi attacchi aerei sia perchè presso GiliGili è stata avvistata una TF da combattimento nemica.

A questo punto devo giocare il tutto per tutto: domani tenterò uno shock attack a PM con quello che ho. Se riesco a conquistare la base e rendere operativo l'aeroporto il sacrificio della Wasp non sarà stato vano.

Ci sono comunque due considerazioni: nonostante avessi 270 caccia (aumentati per precauzione all'ultimo momento) imbarcati in long CAP non tutti si sono alzati in volo e questo è un mistero di WITP. Se tutti avessero svolto la loro missione forse avrei subito minori perdite ed adesso non dovrei fuggire.
Secondo, le perdite jap sono state pesanti in questi 3 giorni: circa il doppio delle mie.
Ad un primo conto i jap hanno perso oltre 500 aerei di cui più della metà sono piloti della marina difficilmente rimpiazzabili.

Port Moresby è caduta!!! Per fortuna la base non era vuota di supplies e quindi posso già contare su 7000 tonnellate di supplies: non molti considerando il numero di uomini sbarcati ma mi consentirà di organizzare i rifornimenti alla base.
Al momento della presa della città, sono circa una decina i trasporti truppa jap che hanno preferito autoaffondarsi in porto.

Con l'aeroporto inservibile e le CV dimezzate di numero dovrò ben ponderare come e quando inviare i supplies alla base. Come prima mossa ho concentrato in nord Australia oltre 100 Dakota, e al più presto faro partire delle DD in fast trasport.
Inoltre ho concentrato anche molti bombrdieri a lunga distanza per eventualmente colpire le CV jap se dovessero avventurarsi oltre GiliGili: se lo facesse in questo momento credo che potrebbe definitivamente porre fine alla mia forza aeronavale nel pacifico visto che ho pochissimi wildcat ancora operativi e concentrati in pratica su 2CV e 2 CVL.

Ad ogni modo, dopo la partenza delle mie CV il dominio dei cieli ora è tornato totalmente in mano jap: oggi sono stati moltissimi i raid che hanno affondato una decina di miei AK, 3 DD, 4 MSW e finito la Wasp che non aveva bisogno di altre bombe per affondare!!! Tutte le navi erano in pratica qusi affondate per i danni subiti durante lo sbarco.

Per fortuna la Lexinton si è allontanata di 3 esagoni senza subire attacchi mentre i fuochi sembrano sotto controllo. Il SYS adesso è a 67 ma per ora non vi è pericolo di affondamento.

Continua la pressione della mia aviazione contro la base in mano nemica. Pochi per ora i danni a terra ma nel cielo i P38 dettano legge e le perdite jap sono sempre maggiori alle mie.


PORT MORESBY
Tutte i cargo sono giunti sani e salvi a Cairns, come la Lexinton. Adesso sto ricostruendo le squadriglie di wildcat per ripopolare le 2 CV e 2 CVE rimaste operative.
A Port Moresby alcuni DD hanno portato supplies senza essere distrubate mentre i Dakota lavorano a pieno regime. I supplies nella base sono saliti a 9K ma credo che presto dovrò organizzare un convoglio utilizzando le CV.
L'aeroporto si sta riparando velocemente: i bombardieri impegnati da Lele contro la base non superano le 40 unità di Betty (forse le perdite dei turni precedenti si fanno sentire) e i danni sono per fortuna minori del ritmo delle riparazioni.
Ho deciso di spostare quindi 50 P38 in CAP per cominciare a distrurbare l'azione dell'aviazione jap.

Oggi un brillante bombardamento dei miei bombardieri pesanti contro Lae ha distrutto al suolo molti aerei nemici: le perdite di aerei jap negli ultimi turni si è fatta pesante, spero che presto la pressione nemica si allenti.

Ad ogni modo i danni alla pista sono stati minimi per fortuna e per domani ho aumentato gli aerei in CAP. Ho anche spostato una squadriglia di 16 aerosiluranti per colpire i cargo nemici.
Domani arriverà una nuova unità con supporto aereo e tra due giorni due AK carichi di supplies. Mi serve per saggiare il potenziale offensivo nemico: nel caso tutto proceda per il meglio proseguirò a trasferire uomini e mezzi dall'Australia.
Con l'aeroporto di Port Moresby operativo, la mia situazione è notevolmente migliorata: forse posso lasciare nei porti le CV e risparmiarle per future azioni.
Di contro, le perdite aeree jap sono anche oggi molto pesanti: non so quanti aerei abbia Lele ma sicuramente non potrà continuare a lungo con questo salasso.

La pista di Port Moresby è pienamente operativa ed ospita ad oggi circa 190 aerei, metà sono caccia e l'altra metà bombardieri, aerosiluranti e bombardieri in picchiata.
Sto organizzando convogli per aumentare la presenza di truppe USA a PM: ho paura che i giapponesi vogliano ributtarmi a mare. Se riesco a resistere sarà poi un problema per Lele rifornire adeguatamente così tante truppe visto il numero di trasporti che riesco a colpire ad ogni turno.

Sono partite intanto da San Francisto 3 CVE cariche di aerei, mentre tra 21 giorni arriverà la Essex con altre 2 CVE. Spero così di ricreare una discreta forza aeronavale.
A Cairns intanto la Lexinton prosegue i lavori per riparare le falle, è a metà dell'opera. Non Appena saranno finiti questi lavori più urgentu la trasferirò a Sidney per passare alla fase più lunga, quella di riparazione dei sys che sono a livello 60!!!

NUOVA GUINEA
I bombardieri jap non si fanno più vedere su Port Moresby e l'aeroporto è efficiente al 100%: forse il numero esiguo di caccia zero ha fatto desistere Lele dal continuare a bombardare la base oppure sono in naval attack.
Alla base infatti si stanno avicinando molti convogli: ho messo in mare le 2 CV e 2 CVE per dare maggiore copertura aerea nei prossimi due turni, speriamo bene! I supplies intanto a PM sono saliti a 13K.

Nel frattempo gli aerei di base a PM continuato il tiro a segno sui trasporti jap: oggi sono affondate 2 AP, 1 MSW ed 1 APD mentre molte altre navi risultano colpite.

Continuano gli sbarchi indisturbati a Port Moresby: la riserva di supplies ha superato le 20K che mi permette di avere i rimpiazzi degli aerei. Come punti assalto adesso ne ho quasi 1900 considerando tutte le unità in Guinea. Ma ne sono in arrivo altri visto che mi aspetto una forte controffensiva jap. Infatti i trasporti nemici non cessano le loro attività incuranti delle perdite: oggi altri 2 MSW e 2 AP risultano affondati, mentre altri centri sono stati messi a segno dai miei piloti!

Avvistato un nuovo convoglio al largo di Lae scortato da una TF da battaglia: i miei aerei non si sono risparmiati ed a prezzo di qualche perdita sono riusciti a colpire diverse navi.

L'incrociatore pesante Chokai sembra messo male visto che le due bombe da 1000 libbre hanno sfondato la corazza. Anche la corazzata Kirishima ha risentito dei colpi da 1000 libbre ma credo che sia ancora operativa. Se domani le navi rimarranno in zona prevedo nuovi scontri!
Purtroppo dall'Australia oggi non si è alzato in volo nessun bombardiere in naval attack, peccato: speriamo per domani, comunque ho spostato una nuova squadriglia di aerosiluranti a PM. Ora ho quasi 250 aerei e supporto per metà di loro ma dall'Australia sono in arrivo nuove unità!

Ad occhio direi che Lele fino ad ora abbia trasportato 4 divisioni, quindi il rapporto di forze dovrebbe essere leggermente a suo vantaggio ma finchè avrò il dominio dell'aria sarà facile colpire i suoi trasporti.


1 AP ed 1 AK, danneggiati negli scorsi giorni, inoltre risultano affondati nella notte.

Lele sembra aver rinunciato a dar battaglia: sto pensando di accellerare i tempi per la riconquista dell'isola. Devo per prima cosa accantonare dei trasporti visto che al contrario del jap ne ho in numero limitato!!!

Lele sta sicuramente accumulando una grande forza d'urto in Guinea ma poi dovrà rifornirla e spero di poter giocare questa carta a mio vantaggio nelle prossime settimane.

Intanto a PM sono arrivate unità di AA e di artiglieria, e per domani sono in arrivo un altro HQ e altre unità per aumentare il supporto aereo.

NUOVA GUINEA
Il continuo arrivo di convogli jap sulla costa orientale mi sta preoccupando: ennesimo convoglio attaccato pesantemente. Sembra che Lele sia incurante delle perdite, quindi è sicuro di ributtarmi a mare.
Ad oggi ho oltre 2100 punti assalto, pieno supporto per le truppe e oltre 63K di rifornimenti. I forts sono in rapida crescita e in 4 giorni hanno raggiunto il livello 1.

Inoltre sono in arrivo altre truppe per un totale di 400 punti assalto, speriamo bastino :humm:!

A fine giornata risulta affondata solo 1 AK ma le navi colpite sono molte:
