    Siete nel 44 giusto? Forse hai ancora divisioni e reggimenti con TOE non aggiornato che montano le squadre di fanteria del 43?

    Non credo/spero tu abbia aggiornato i device di tutte le tue unità. Se una divisione che ha ancora i fucilieri del '43 nel TOE prenderà dal pool i rimpiazzi, fino a quando non farai l'upgrade alla fanteria del '44. In base a quanti device produci, scegli tu a quali e quante unità concedere gli aggiornamenti. E quelle 782 squadre in pool rimangono del '43, il pool non upgrada mai.

    Non ho mai notato la cosa, cioè che hai una produzione di device che non dovrebbe esserci. Magari deriva da arrivi di unità offmap o simile, non ne ho idea.

    DAY-18 DELLE OPERAZIONI


    1) CenPac

    Ordino alla CVE di rientrare a PH. Non è stata spottata in nessuno dei tre giorni in cui è rimasta 24 hex a EST di Tokio.


    2) SoPac

    Le due APA ferite a Gasmata sono messe maluccio. Una è rientrata giuliva sotto l'area da me controllata in zona Milne Bay, l'altra l'ho disbandata a Gasmata stessa. Gasmata ha AF lvl1 e non può tenere tanta CAP, per giunta a pochi hex da Manus e Kavieng, grandi AF giapponesi. Penso che Blizzard abbia pensato io cercassi di salvarla mandandola indietro e avesse messo i suoi in NavB.
    Lasciandola a Gasmata, ho dato un turno di respiro alla LRCAP.

    In compenso una LST viene obliterata dai Judy. Un'altra viene colpita ma ce la farà. Sbarcate oltre 5.500 supplies a Gasmata, quindi ne è valsa la pena.


    Le flotte per l'assalto a Ontong Java avanzano giulive e si portano in posizione per lo sbarco, previsto per domani:

    Poco da dire. Ho silenziato gli AF in zona Tulagi e l'AF di Shortlands, quindi eventualmente Blizzard se la dovrà fare da Rabaul o da Kavieng.

    Come si vede, grande news: Buka, base a NORD dell'isola dove c'è Shortlands, ha portato l'AF al lvl1. Cosa magnifica.

    In zona Milne Bay ho concentrato molti 4E che erano precedentemente di stanza in Australia e sto tirando su AF vari.


    Blizzard sta però predisponendo le sue forze per la prossima fase delle operazioni, sviluppando le basi sulla costa NORD della PNG.

    Piccoli raid che però hanno l'effetto di disorganizzare lo sforzo nemico nel settore.

    Gli attacchi aerei durante la giornata sono devastanti tanto quanto i bombardamenti navali.

    Il giapponese mi affonda un paio di piccoli sminatori costieri in zona Ocean Island. 5 Nell si palesano sulle TF da sbarco e vengono subito abbattuti.

    Un paio di siluramenti da parte mia in zona PNG. Una mia AK viene a sua volta affondata davanti Milne Bay.


    Blizzard sweeppa coi Frank-R Gasmata. Perdo ben 7 Hellcat al prezzo di 0 Frank per lui. Molto bene.


    In compenso lancio altri strike in zona PNG e anche oggi faccio i miei bravi danni:

    In tutto ciò, però, ho da rimandare l'attacco a Nauru Island. Il motivo è che mi sono incasinato con le TF anfibie che trasportano ART e ARM e sono in netto ritardo. Inoltre, cosa non da nulla, ho fatto pure casino con le AKE.

    Morale della favola: ho da rimandare. La cosa non è molto negativa dopotutto: avrò l'opportunità di fare refuel alle mie navi, visto che sono dannatamente a secco. Ora vedo che fare.

    Plausibilmente, quando riceverò il turno, deciderò il da farsi in base alla situazione logistica. Propendo fortemente per far arrivare 60k fuel su TK varie a 4-5 giorni di navigazione da Ndeni e poi lanciare l'offensiva con le navi rifornite. Ho anche da rimpinguare i gruppi aerei imbarcati, fattore non secondario.


    Intanto, con la cattura di Ontong Java ho acquisito un'importante base (AF lvl5) e protetto il fianco destro nell'area delle Salomone.

    Da PM (AF lvl9), Ontong Java (AF lvl5), Milne Bay (AF lvl6 oggi) e Woodlark Island (AF lvl6 presto lvl7) lancerò i 4E per brasare le difese giapponesi a Kavieng e Manus Island.
    Blizzard ha di nuovo reso operativi tutta una serie di AF in zona, ma li tiene deserti, concentrando i suoi aerei appunto a Manus e Kavieng.
    Ho da decidere il da farsi: non so se mi vale lanciare un mega-strike per chiuderli e poi chiudere gli altri AF o viceversa. Credo che opterò per la prima soluzione.

    Sto anche approntando le basi nel Mar degli Arafura, dove temo una sortita della KB fra l'altro.
    Ho circa 1.000ENG già al lavoro in basi varie e 1.500 in dirittura d'arrivo a Normanton. Un altro migliaio è a Cairns e se la farà pericolosamente via nave con tappa a Horn Island (per via della CAP della base).

    L'idea è semplice: portare un fracco di genieri a Mornington Island, Normanton e Groote Eylandt e da queste tre basi portarli a Wessel Island, Gove e Merauke via barges.
    Quelli di Merauke partiranno presumibilmente da Horn Island, a soli 4 hex da essa.

    Un grande ponte aereo è attualmente attivo in zona e funziona egregiamente.

    Mornington Island ha quasi finito i lavori all'AF (max lvl = 8) e Groote Eylandt sta lavorando sia su porto (verso lvl3) che sull'aeroporto (verso lvl6 con max lvl = 8).
    Gove e Wessel Island sono ancora dot e non hanno ENG.
    Merauke è indietrissimo con porto lvl1 e AF lvl2 (quasi lvl3).

    Da notare i diversi sommergibili alleati in navigazione verso le DEI e quelli giapponesi nel Golfo di Carpentaria. Ho da minare le mie basi (ancora qualche turno necessario).




    3) Altro

    Disbando diversi gruppi aerei sulla West Coast, così da far arrivare gli a/c in pool. E' più veloce che trasportarli via mare e ho già adesso ben più gruppi che aeroporti lungo la linea del fronte.

    In particolare, sono sempre a corto di 4E e TR. Ho però un grande pool (circa 100) di B-24 dell'USN. Anche i B-25 scarseggiano. Moltissimi Ventura in pool (circa 250).

    Sì, visto che ne ho millemila in pool.


    Quindi mi vale non fare l'upgrade a certe unità per finire il pool di squadre. Tipo: tengo una divisione marines col TOE del 1943 e li faccio combattere malamente dovunque così finisco le 782 squadre a suon di casualties.


    Sì, diamine! Non ci avevo pensato! E' sicuramente come dici tu e deriva dalle millemila LCU che ho ricomprato e si sono riformate! Ora ha senso

    Dipende: se navighi nell'abbondanza upgrada e sbattitene se il pool resta a marcire fino a fine guerra, non sei più il poveraccio con gli occhi a mandorla! Se invece di quel device ne hai pochi allora ha assolutamente senso quello che dici.
    Chiaro che non potendo aggiornare il singolo device del TOE, occhio a come ti muovi...

    Che, scherzi?! Io sono e sempre sarò il poveraccio con gli occhi a mandorla!!! Sto facendo downgrade dei gruppi aerei a rotta di collo.
    Lo scorso turno per dire ho addocchiato il bel pool di 36 Lysander II:

    Comunque grazie mille per l'aiuto, sto iniziando a capire.

    In termini di squadre sono strettissimo (anzi, direi che sono indietro in modo oltraggioso), però ho a disposizione un bel pool per alcuni:

    La sfiga è che ho solo una divisione marines con le squadre del '43 (la 2nd USMC). Sarebbero quelli basati a PH in attesa e preparati per Wake.
    Ora li prelevo e inizio a "processare" le 968 squadre del pool.
    Uguale per un paio di divisioni US Army che hanno ancora le squadre del '43 e una nella West Coast in attesa di trasporti che addirittura ha le squadre iniziali.
    Userò queste truppe per sbarchi d'opportunità con preparazione immonda, fregandomene delle perdite.

    Da notare come io abbia un solido pool di canadesi e neozelandesi, motivo per cui li sto usando abbastanza intensamente.


    Però di nuovo qualcosa non mi torna. Ora, vabbè le unità che arrivano, ma com'è che producendo 80 US Army Rifle Squad 44 dal 43/12 ne ho usate ad oggi 3.092?!
    Son tre mesi e mezzo di produzione, dovrei averne prodotte 280. E' un delta mica da nulla e non sono arrivate così tante LCU nel mentre (men che meno piene):

    Altro fattore che mi lascia perplesso è il fatto che siano state usate 334 USMC Rifle Squad. Ora, com'è possibile? Che Stefano le abbia perse tutte? Non credo proprio visto che i marines non son stati mai usati in tutto il match (ok, forse ho segato un reggimento in India e quello che parte a Luzon, ma niente di che). Tanto più che per le due unità (il reggimento in India e quello a Luzon) hanno TOE 100% o giù di lì, quindi le "used" dovrebbe essere ancora meno visto che non ha dovuto riempire le unità.

    Mi viene il dubbio che in qualche modo le squadre facciano l'upgrade.

    Io da alleato fin dal 41 imposto gruppi aerei nelle retrovie con quelle immonde ciofeche volanti per fare addestramento intensivo.
    Nel giro di pochi mesi cominciano a dare frutti.

    Sì lo so che si usano così ma siamo nel 1944 e ho un pool di riserve piloti bislacco. Il pool aerei è ok-ish.

    Ho deciso per un addestramento eclettico dei miei piloti: mix di missioni in training e di sortite contro il nemico. Vanno su di exp veloce così anche se ne perdi tanti (ma con la produzione alleata del '44 si gestisce).

    Uso gli aerei immondi per far consumare ammo alle AA nemiche usando piloti direttamente dai replacements (cioè quelli non addestrati con exp tipo di 32). Ho oltre 60.000 piloti nei replacements e me lo posso permettere.

    I pochi che sopravvivono, diventano ottimi piloti per la reserve fra l'altro.


    Metodo testato e approvato coi giappo che, pure, non sguazzano nei piloti. Ho "processato" centinaia di Ida e Sonia in questo modo. Oltre che dozzilioni di Nate col loro magico payload di 2x50Kg. Questi aerei sono fondamentali negli assedi e non si perdono nemmeno così tanti piloti perché si hanno truppe nell'hex (comunque ne muoiono a vagonate).


    Uso gli aerei obsoleti alleati per finirne il pool e ottenere da essi un vantaggio di qualche tipo.

    Per dire: chi minchia usa i Wildcat del '42 nel 1944? Il sottoscritto. Prendi e li mandi a morire con piloti dei replacements e il loro fantastico payload di 2x100lb contro bersagli che hanno tanta AA. Io consumo piloti e aerei, il giapponese supplies.
    L'addestramento diventa secondario a questo punto del match: hai così tanti gruppi aerei che puoi addestrare chiunque in un tempo ragionevole e puoi usare gli aerei buoni ché tanto ne hai a valanghe. I pool che sono stretti sono di aerei che hanno sostituti cheap.

    Col fatto che addestro principalmente al fronte, poi, è tutto ancora più facile. Chiaro che via via hai i tuoi problemi, tipo i P-47 che sweeppano Rabaul, trovano CAP di Oscar-IV e A6M8 e finisce 8-2 per i giapponesi, ma tant'è.




    Piccola perla: l'aereo più perduto della guerra dopo l'A6M2-Zero è l'Helen-IIb con 1.284 aerei abbattuti. Di questi 1.284, 94 sono stati abbattuti in air-to-air. 10 distrutti al suolo. 382 in ops.
    Ben 798 dalla FlaK.

    Odio la FlaK.

    Di 12.933 perdite aeree giapponesi ad oggi, 6.376 sono in air-to-air, 3.371 causa FlaK, 759 al suolo e 4.437 ops.

    Tu alzi troppo secondo me i livello dei morti nei cieli. Capisco il Banzai, cosa che può avere un senso nel 44/45 , ma da alleato nemmeno nel 45, a meno che il giapponese non sia a LA chiaro.
    Più che altro perchè ogni aereo perduto è un punto in più per l'avversario.
    Anch'io sono dell'idea di usare tutto, non si butta via niente, ma immolarli proprio non sono capace.

    La mia prospettiva è questa: io non faccio né ho mai fatto niente in funzione dei punti. I punti sono il determinante della partita e quindi danno il risultato finale di vittoria/sconfitta.
    Dunque, io gioco come gioco a priori dei punti, poi guardo i punti per sapere se ho vinto/perso. Nel senso, non è che agisco a causa dei punti, ma guardo ai punti come al risultato di ciò che ho fatto.

    In altre parole, so che gli aerei usati così valgono punti e che in un certo senso mi fanno perdere, ma non ho mai badato al far le cose in funzione dei punti e ho chiuso due match ai punti: Patton 5:1 nel '42 e questo contro Stefano 3:1 nel 1943. Credo che se uno si concentra sul giocare bene, poi, il discorso punti vien da sé senza badarci.


    Considera anche che qui è in salita a priori, siamo 83.823 a 27.242 cioè 3,077 : 1. Anche perdessi in questo modo 3.000 aerei, cambierebbe poco nel grande schema delle cose.
    Fermo restando il resto, la ratio di punti vittoria passerebbe da 3,077:1 a 3,187:1.

    Blizzard decide quindi di evacuare le sue navi dall'area.

    Io perdo un DMS davanti a Rabaul, ma finisco di sminare l'hex d'ingresso all'importante base nemica. Un DM e una LST finiscono su delle mine a Gasmata: l'ironia è che la DM era lì proprio per minare il porto ed evitare Blizzard lo minasse coi sub.

    Sweep di Frank-R su Woodlark Island che si risolve in un mezzo fiasco. I P-40 a difesa della base ottengono un congruo 3-4 in favore dei Frank-R.

    Basi varie continuano a svilupparsi.

    Ordinato per domani un grande assalto aereo a Kavieng, meteo permettendo.

    Un gruppo di parà australiani prova il colpo gobbo ad Hansa Bay, che pareva essere "difesa" solo da un battaglione da costruzione giapponese. Naturalmente Blizzard mangia la foglia dopo che ci ho mandato un ricognitore (fra le dozzine di recon che faccio ogni turno) e ci ha trasferito il 4th South Seas Detatchment, comandato dal buon Colonnello Tobita, il quale fa a pezzi i miei parà:

    Ho sempre giocato all'acqua di rose senza andare troppo a fondo a certi concetti, mi piace prendere rabbia perché non capisco certe cose. Fa sapere che dicono di là in ogni caso!!
